ArteNOM Selección de 1146 Tequila Añejo - in the eponymous town of Tequila, Jalisco, home to a range of celebrated tequilas, Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca distills agave predominantly grown in and around his highland hometown of Atotonilco el Alto. For this añejo selección, Enrique patiently ages exclusive tequila in used Cabernet Franc wine barrels from the Loire Valley of France – 60% of the tequila is aged for two years; 40% is aged for three years. The two maturations are then slowly integrated together, before laying into toasted American white oak previously used to age Tennessee rye whiskey, for a master balance of oak and agave.
Aroma: Butterscotch, baking spices, vanila
Palate: Walnut, orange zest, dark chocolate
Finish: Elegant, smooth
AQS
Authenticity: Each master distiller owns, manages and overlooks all production from field to pot still to bottling as this way they can ensure high quality control.
Quality: All agave is grown above 4,000ft (sometimes up to 7,000ft) making it the perfect altitude and climate (dry, arid, sunny and hot) to increase the brix content (natural sugar levels) of the agave plant which imparts several flavours to the final tequila result!
Sustainability: The 1579 distillery is built on a gentle hill in Jalisco making every stage of the production gravity-led which reduces energy consumption. The 1414 distillery composts or reuses the agave fibres for fertiliser onto the fields.
